What
is Aleoswood?
Aleoswood is a resin
cause by an attack from Phialophora parasitica(which
is a parasite fungus or mold) on Aleoswood
Trees.Aleoswood trees(bai mu xiang shu)(°×ľÏãÊ÷)
frequently become infected with a fungi
and begin to produce an aromatic resin commonly
call Aquilara Malaccensis Lam, Jin-ka, Kyara,
Agaru, Tagara, kalaguru, chen xiang£¬³ÁÏã.
These trees bears snow-white sweetly scented
flowers and natives to Northern India, Laos,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and South China.
They can grow up to 40 meters high and 60
centimeters in diameter. (Pictures below

History of Aleoswood
The history of Aleoswood can
be dated back to 268 AD or earlier. The
picture & chart below shows different
countries in Southeast Asia paying tribute
to the Emperor of China during Nam Bei Dynasty(
Äϱ±³¯)(220AD-589AD)
During the Tang Dynasty(ÌƳ¯581AD-904AD),one
of the palace main building was built with
 Aleoswood
and was name Chen Xiang Ting(³ÁÏãͤ) but unfortunately
it was destory.The picture shown on the
left was the rebuilt one in 1958.
On 760AD Emperor Tang Su Zhong(ÌÆËà×Ú) welcome
the Buddha bone (·ð¹Ç)from the Imperial  Temple(·¨ÃÅËÂ)
to the capital. About 300 taels of Aleoswood
was used for the welcoming ceremony. (The
picture below shows the Buddha Bone was
kept from the Tang dynasty till now)

and Cassia....."

Searching for
Aleoswood.
Searching for Aleoswood is very tough and
dangerous mission. Its very capital and
labour intensive. Rural Villagers in the
southeast countries go into deep Jungle
for months to search just for Aleoswood.The
ratio of finding Aleoswood is about 1:5,0000.
Sometime Aleoswood tree is found but it
do not have Aleoswood resin. Most of the
Aleoswood resin is found underneath the
roots. Unlucky villagers may not found any
Aleoswood and in the worst scenario some
are attack or kill by wild Beasts such as
tigers or bears .Average output of Aleoswood
resin found is about 5 kilograms monthly

Processing of
Aleoswood.
After the Aleoswood and Aleoswood resin
is found the villagers will gather and stored
them in their temporary shelters built in
the jungle. There are two process cleaning
and skinning.

Aleoswood is graded according to it smell
,colour,oil content, texture and region
found. This kind of grading method is very
ancient and has been used by all the Aleoswood
dealers and collectors till today.
